MAY Construction Co. hosts Third Annual
MAY Fair
In February, MAY Construction Co. of Little Rock, Ark., kicked
off its third annual MAY Fair, a weekend filled with education,
training and recognition for all MAY Construction Co. team
members.
MAY holds MAY Fair at the Peabody hotel in Little Rock to
discuss industry changes, provide company wide training and
development opportunities, and to participate in team building
seminars and exercises.
"MAY Fair provides us the rare opportunity to have all
employees gathered together in one place," said CEO Lewis
May.
Longevity Awards were given to those team members who achieve
length of employment milestones in five-year intervals. Hal
Bridges, site manager, was given a 10-year award. Five-year
awards were given to site manager Dennis Queen, foreman Wayne
Cotton, senior project manager Paul Gandy and executive assistant
Eleanor Randolph.
The Safety Award, given to the team member who exhibited
the highest safety standard, was presented to site manager
Dave Nelson.
The Columbia Pin, given to the team member who exhibits the
highest level of professionalism and successful representation
of the company values, was given to site manager Jack Granberg.
He received a shuttle pin from the Space Shuttle Columbia,
originally presented to CEO Lewis May at MAY Fair 2004 by
then guest speaker Jim O'Neal, who had worked for the NASA
Gemini program.
Two new awards programs were implemented this year - the
Fish of the Year and Rising Star. The MAY Fair Committee made
the recommendation to the Executive Committee that two individuals
be recognized for their work ethic and attitude each year.
The Fish of the Year Award is given in recognition of actions
that promote the Fish Philosophy and its components of play,
make someone's day, be present and choose your attitude.
The Rising Star is given in recognition of an employee that
is considered the "best" employee in a respective
business unit or division who can be depended upon to get
things done, is admired for the job they do and who is seen
as reaching new heights of success. Patricia Grisham, subcontracts
payable, was awarded the Fish of the Year Award, and Leah
Peterson, marketing manager, was awarded the Rising Star award.
