Skipper Rinaldi
The board of directors of the Bayou Chapter of Associated
Builders and Contractors recently announced that Skipper Rinaldi
has been selected as executive director.
Rinaldi is returning to New Orleans after spending the last
two years as a risk management/human resource director with
a Dallas area pipeline contractor. Rinaldi's 25-year career
in construction has been focused in administration, education
and operations.
The Bayou Chapter of ABC, with approximately 200 member general
contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and associates, has
offices, craft training and apprenticeship education facilities
in St. Rose.
Troy Allen
The Shaw Group Inc. recently announced that Troy Allen, director
of safety & health of Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure
Inc., has been named as Alumni of the Year at Southeastern
Louisiana University's (SLU) Industrial Technology Department
as well 2003 Outstanding Industrial Technologist by the National
Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT).
Allen will receive the award at NAIT's annual banquet this
fall in Nashville, Tenn. The award is the highest honor bestowed
to an alumnus from an accredited university by NAIT for outstanding
career achievements.
Cited as one of many reasons for Allen's receipt of these
honors was his integral role in the development of SLU's Construction
Degree program and his continued involvement with the university's
Industrial Technology Department.
Currently, he is serving as the department chair of the Industrial
Advisory Committee and has been assisting in the further enhancement
of the Safety & Health curriculum at the University.
Allen joined The Shaw Group in 1997 as the Safety Manager
of the Construction and has since been promoted to corporate
compliance manager and director of safety & health of
Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure Inc. He holds a bachelor's
degree in industrial technology from Southeastern Louisiana
University.
Robert H. Boh
Boh Bros. Construction LLC Chairman Robert H. Boh recently
received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Orleans
Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The award
is given annually to a civil engineer for career accomplishments
in the profession.
Boh received bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering
from Tulane University and has been a licensed civil engineer
in Louisiana since 1951.
His career included a teaching position on the Tulane Engineering
School faculty and engineering and management positions at
Boh Bros.
Ralph Junius Sr.
Ralph Junius Sr., vice chairman of the board for Boh Bros.
Construction LLC, was recently honored by the Metropolitan
Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) with
an award for a lifetime of technical innovation.
The award was presented to Junius, who accepted on behalf
of Boh Bros., at an APWA luncheon.
"It was a real honor for me to be a representative
for all the technical innovations over all these years, that
Boh Bros. has contributed to the New Orleans public works
construction scene," Junius said.
Although his name appears on the plaque, Junius emphasized
that he merely represents the years of cumulative innovations
that have come from every department at Boh during the company's
history.
Junius has a patent for his connection design of woodpiles
to concrete pile caps to resist tension loads. He also designed
three different expanding mandrills and in the 1950s a floating
stiff-leg derrick that is still in use today.
Each year, the APWA recognizes members for various achievements,
said current president Frank Newell. APWA is comprised of
municipal workers, including the directors of many of the
municipal agencies from Jefferson and Orleans parishes, as
well as contractors and engineers involved in public works.
Andy Runnels
Andy Runnels recently joined Balar Associates Inc., a Shreveport
engineering firm, as quality assurance coordinator. Runnels
is a certified building inspector.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the construction
services field and 15 years of experience as a construction
services manager.
Michael H. Stanage
Michael H. Stanage recently received his license to practice
architecture in Louisiana.
Stanage is a project manager with Alliance Inc. of Shreveport
and has been with the company for more than four years while
completing the National Council of Architectural Registration
Board's Intern Development Program required for registration
in architecture.
He worked in the construction field for 25 years, serving
as both an employee and an owner, contractor and project manager
for commercial and residential building.
