Daniel P. "Danny" Cavalier, Thomas G. "Tommy" Christian II

Daniel P. "Danny" Cavalier and Thomas G. "Tommy" Christian II have been promoted at Basic Industries Inc. of Baton Rouge, according to Dean M. Bordelon, Basic Industries president.

Cavalier now has total responsibility as business development manager for Basic Industries' eastern region. Among his responsibilities is the coordination of opportunities for Basic's operating divisions within the region.

He also coordinates with XSERV's officials on corporate accounts and opportunities for XSERV's other operating entities.

Cavalier has more than six years in the construction industry, including five years as director of education for the Associated Builders & Contractors. He holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education and a master's degree in administration.

Christian has been promoted to manager of maintenance services and is responsible for all maintenance services for the eastern region of Basic Industries. He has served in many capacities within the maintenance services division.

Christian has more than 16 years in the construction industry. He holds a business degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Darryl Breaux and Bill Carmouche will continue their present role within the maintenance services division and report to Christian.

Basic Industries is an industrial specialty contractor and performs such services as insulation, coatings, refractory, abatement, fireproofing, scaffolding, and tower and vessel maintenance.

Tony Ward

Tony Ward has been promoted to president of NuTemp Inc., a specialist rental company focusing on climate control, pumps and power equipment for commercial and industrial applications.

Ward is an industry veteran, with experience and training in the HVACR rental business. Previously, he was Mid-Atlantic regional manager for the company. He has been with NuTemp for three years.

NuTemp specializes in rental cooling, heating, pumps, power and dehumidification equipment through nine U. S. and more than 50 worldwide locations.

John Parisi

John Parisi was recently appointed to business development manager for Rental Service Corp.'s Texas region. Parisi will focus on expanding the company's non-commercial and industrial accounts.

Parisi will develop new markets for more than 50 RSC stores in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

He will be largely focused on manufacturing, industrial, government and petrochemical accounts. He joins Rental Service after spending seven years in business development within the technology industry.

Rental Service Corporation, a company within the Atlas Copco Group, serves the rental and sales demands of the construction, industrial/petrochemical, manufacturing, government and homeowner markets in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Kevin P. Gourgues

Kevin P. Gourgues has been named manager of the Drilling Division of GROUP Contractors LLC of Baton Rouge, according to David Arrighi, president of GROUP Conractors.

Gourgues will be responsible for overseeing operations of the division, including project management, estimating and customer relations. He has more than 10 years experience in the construction industry and is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in industrial technology and a minor in construction management.

GROUP Contractors and its various divisions perform heavy civil, drill shafts, mechanical process piping, structural steel with sheeting/siding and industrial building.

Harriett Pooler

The LSU Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC) recently named Harriett Pooler as executive director.

Pooler is a native of Lafayette and received her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

After graduation she worked several years in the oil and gas industry as an independent landman in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Before coming to LSU, she was employed by Capital Area United Way as a campaign associate working in the Industrial Division with plants, manufacturers and contractors.

CIAC was formed in 1993 as a volunteer support organization to support the LSU construction management program.

Charles F. Wilson

Charles F. Wilson, Wilson Lumber Co. of Memphis, Tenn., has been elected president of the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association.

SCMA held its annual meeting in March at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans.

SCMA also elected William C. Bell, Kempfer Sawmill Inc. of St. Cloud, Fla., as vice president.

The Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of cypress building products to trade professionals and consumers.

Don Weaver

Don Weaver of Conway, Ark., has been elected chairman of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association/Southern American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Joint Committee.

The Associated General Contractors of America made the appointment. Weaver is part owner of Weaver-Bailey Contractors of El Paso, Texas.

Larry M. Beasley

Larry M. Beasley has been named president and chief operating officer of the Building Group of BE&K Construction Company and president of BE&K Healthcare.

Beasley was most recently president of Bovis Lend Lease Inc., a part of Bovis Lend Lease Americas, with responsibility for all operations in the Southeast, Southwest, West Coast and Washington, D.C. markets.

In this role, Beasley was responsible for 14 offices and more than 1,000 people, with operating revenues in excess of $1.3 billion. He has been in the industry for nearly 30 years, having started his career with the McDevitt & Street Company.

In addition to his healthcare experience, Beasley has a portfolio of projects that includes commercial, retail, sports and entertainment, hospitality and aviation construction.
