John R. Schempf
John R. Schempf was recently named vice president and general
manager of Triad Electric and Controls, a member company of
The Newtron Group Inc. (NGI), an industrial electrical and
instrumentation construction company.
Schempf has been with the national group of NGI for 10 years
as a field engineer and project manager. During that time
he managed and served as an integral player in numerous major
projects, including a recent $62 million modernization effort
at a California refinery.
His primary responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day
operations along with growth and management of the company.
Schempf succeeds Keith Walker, who will devote full time
to his position as vice president of construction at Triad.
In other NGI news, Robert H. Wright has been named vice president
of project services and Brian J. Bordelon assumes the position
of manager of estimating and engineering for the national
group of NGI.
Col. Anthony C. Vesay
Col. Anthony C. Vesay, assumed command of the U. S. Army
Corps of Engineers' Vicksburg District in July following the
departure of Col. Frederick L. Clapp Jr.
Vesay is moving to Vicksburg following an assignment in Iraq.
Clapp became the 48th district engineer for Vicksburg in
June 2001. He will become the new director of public works
for Fort Benning at Ft. Benning, Ga.
Commissioned in 1977, Clapp is a graduate of the United States
Military Academy, West Point, New York, and earned master's
degrees in civil engineering from the University of Florida
and in construction management from Boston University.
Before his assignment as commander of the Vicksburg District,
Clapp was deputy commander for the Corps' Mississippi Valley
Division in Vicksburg.
Clapp's decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense
Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation and Achievement
Medals. He has been awarded the Ranger, Airborne, and Air
Assault Badges.
During his tenure significant work was completed on raising
the levees along the Mississippi River, several major watershed
studies were initiated, including the 2-year Pearl River Watershed
Study.
Clapp also led key projects that have drawn national attention,
including the Big Sunflower River maintenance project, the
Yazoo Backwater Reformulation, and the J. Bennett Johnston
Waterway.
William Clouatre
William Clouatre recently joined Cajun Constructors Inc.
as director of business development - industrial operations
in the Baton Rouge and Houston areas.
Clouatre brings to Cajun 20 years of experience in operations
and marketing in the industrial construction and maintenance
arena.

has offices in Dallas and Houston. It is one of the nation's
leading general industrial and public works contractors servicing
multiple markets including petroleum, chemical, energy, food

Bob Piper
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) recently announced
that Bob Piper, co-owner and vice president of corporate operations,
Piper Electric Co. Inc. of Arvada, Colo., has been named vice
president of workforce development.
"We are thrilled to have someone with Bob's extensive
industry experience as a member of our senior management team,"
said Kirk Pickerel, ABC president and CEO. "His experience,
coupled with his passion for workforce development, will ensure
that ABC remains in its leadership position in education and
training."
Piper has more than 20 years of experience in management
with a focus on the coordination of electrical installations.
As vice chairman of ABC's Region 1 in 2003-2004, Piper was
a member of the ABC National Board of Directors and its executive
committee. At the national level, Piper has served as chairman
of ABC's Workforce Development Coordination Committee, chairman
of its National Craft Training Committee and chairman of ABC's
School to Career Committee.
Piper is the recipient of numerous awards and honors on the
local level. The Arvada Chamber of Commerce named Piper Electric
its 2001 Business of the Year and the City of Arvada named
Piper its 2001 Entrepreneur of the Year.
Piper served as president of ABC's Rocky Mountain chapter
in 2002 and at the chapter level was named 1996 "ABCer
of the Year." He also received the chapter's Directors
Award for Outstanding Effort for the Student Intern Program
and for Excellence in Grassroots Legislative Program Development.
Andrew P. Studdert
NES Rentals Holdings Inc. recently named Andrew P. Studdert
its new president & CEO. Studdert is the former chief
operating officer of UAL Corporation/United Airlines.
Studdert previously served as COO of UAL Corporation/United
Airlines from 1999-2002. During that time, he led United to
its highest ratings in company history for on-time performance
and customer service (2002), completed the company's largest
cost-reduction effort and guided the airline through the Sept.
11 crisis.
He also held the posts of senior vice president, fleet operations
(1997-1999) and chief information officer (1995-1997) at United.
Prior to joining United, Studdert established Andrew Studdert
& Associates, a private information technology consultancy
and served as executive vice president for First Interstate
Bancorp.
NES Rentals, one of the industry's largest heavy equipment
rental companies with more than 3,000 employees and 141 branches
nationwide, generated $567 million in total revenues in 2003.
