Larry East Jr.
The Shaw Group Inc. of Baton Rouge recently announced that
Larry East Jr., general manager of Shaw's Stone & Webster
Baton Rouge office, was appointed to the LSU Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering's (CEE) External Advisory
Board Council.
The CEE External Advisory Board Council advises the department
in its future direction in education, research and service.
It develops campaigns for enhancements of faculty, students,
programs and facilities as well as promoting the needs of
the department to the college, university and the professional
community.
East has more than 20 years of experience in project management,
construction management, civil/structural engineering, and
steel fabrication in the specialty chemical, petrochemical,
commercial, municipal and power industries.
He received his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State
University and is a registered engineer in civil and environmental
engineering. He is also a member of the American Society of
Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers,
and the Louisiana Engineering Society.
Scott Phillips
Tensar Earth Technologies Inc. recently announced that Scott
Phillips has been named regional manager for Arkansas, Louisiana
and Mississippi.
Phillips is a civil engineering graduate of Louisiana Tech
University and holds an MBA from Mississippi College. He is
a registered professional engineer and a registered professional
land surveyor, and he joins Tensar after spending the last
eight years as a consulting civil engineer. In addition to
geotechnical engineering, Phillips has extensive experience
in hydraulics, hydrology and roadway design.
He lives in Monroe.
Tensar, an international corporation headquartered in Atlanta,
Ga., is a full-service provider of specialty products and
engineering services used in cost-effective development of
commercial, residential, industrial and municipal sites.
Philip McAfee
Philip McAfee, founder of PM Construction, is the 2005 recipient
of the Gulf Coast Trenchless Association and Underground Construction
magazine's Most Valuable Professional Award. The ceremony
was held in January at the George R. Brown Convention Center
in Houston.
The MVP Award is given to an individual for outstanding contributions
to the underground infrastructure industry, McAfee is a pioneer
and leader in developing pipebursting technology in the Gulf
Coast area. He conducted the first pipebursting project for
Houston and because of that project's success, pipebursting
became a key technology in the city's wastewater program.
These early successes have resulted in hundreds of miles
of pipe installed via pipebursting in the Houston and Gulf
Coast area.
PM Construction was acquired from the McAfee family in 2000
by RePipe Inc. McAfee served as a consultant to RePipe for
two years and is now retired.
Bob Liebermann
Putzmeister America appointed Bob Liebermann as special products
sales manager in November.
Liebermann brings more than 25 years of experience with the
concrete pumping industry to his new role. He will concentrate
on sales support for the company's technically based specialty
products such as separate placing booms, high-pressure trailer
pumps and underground pumping equipment.
Putzmeister America specializes in concrete and material
placing equipment, with a complete line of truck-mounted concrete
boom pumps and telescopic conveyors, separate placing booms
and trailer-mounted concrete pumps.
Andrea Talley
The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) named Andrea
Talley as marketing manager of transportation systems in its
Schaumburg, Ill., office. Talley will promote design of steel-reinforced
concrete pavements and transportation structures. She will
visit and make presentations to state agencies, contractors,
specifying agencies, engineers and any other interested parties.
Before joining CRSI, Talley was a technical communications
and marketing manager for software and hardware, supporting
utilities and telecommunications.
