Carvel Bernhard, Curtis Prda

Shreve Land Construction recently announced the promotion of Carvel Bernhard to senior project manager. Bernhard is located in Shreve Land's Dallas office and oversees multiple construction projects in Texas, Louisiana and the southeastern U.S.

Bernhard has 20 years experience in the construction industry. He handles all aspects of project management for various types of construction projects, including multifamily, commercial and renovation projects.

In addition to his responsibilities as a project manager, Bernhard also oversees field operations at other jobsites. He is a graduate of Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas, with a degree in business administration.

Shreve Land also announced that Curtis Prda has joined the Shreveport staff as a project manager.

Prda has nearly 10 years construction experience. Prior to joining Shreve Land Construction, he was a project manager for High West Construction Services Inc. of Greenwood.

Prda attended the University of Texas in Tyler, where he studied business management. He also holds numerous OSHA and other construction-related certifications.

Bill Doyle

Bill Doyle, vice president of Brice Building Co. Inc. of Metairie, was recently appointed to the National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) Occupational Analysis Task Force.

The goal of the task force is to provide constructor input into the development of a national construction examination, which NASCLA is developing to encourage license reciprocity between states and eliminate examination redundancies.

Doyle is an industry veteran of more than 30 years and will utilize his experience to ensure that a comprehensive list of tasks performed by building contractors and a list of knowledge and skill requirements needed to work safely and competently in multiple states will form the solid foundation needed for a national exam.

Fred McManus

Willie Lefever recently resigned his position as 2005 chairman of Associated Builders and Contractors' Pelican Chapter following a job change. The resignation is a requirement of the chapter's bylaws.

In accordance with the ABC bylaws and with the full support and direction of the chapter's Executive Committee, the Pelican Chapter announced that Fred McManus with The Shaw Group of Baton Rouge, would assume the Chapter chairman's position for the remainder of 2005.

Ajay Mathur

Ajay Mathur has been named director of engineering operations for URS Corporation's Process and Energy Group in New Orleans.

Mathur has more than 28 years of experience, with interests in the field of 3D design, worksharing operations and quality systems. He previously served as manager of engineering with a large consulting engineering firm in Baton Rouge.

He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master's in business administration from the University of Louisiana.
