Flexible, Affordable Laser Receivers

A new series of laser receivers that can be used for a wide variety of machine and elevation control tasks was announced this spring by Topcon Positioning Systems. The integrated laser receiver is battery operated and has green and red LEDs for on-and-off grade indication.

The LS-B10 series is meant to provide cost-effective solutions for grade control on small machines such as backhoes, mini-excavators, skid steer loaders and other compact equipment. The basic LS-B10 model features a magnet mount for quick attachment when used on equipment or can be combined with the optional holder for use on a grade rod.

The advanced LS-B10W offers built-in wireless technology and CANopen (Controller Area Network) connectivity to provide the ultimate in communications flexibility. The new RD-10W in-cab remote display brings grade information via wireless link in front of the operator - where it is needed most.

Super TilematicTile Saws

Target, a manufacturer of cutting and grinding products for masons, has launched the next generation of Tilematic and Super Tilematic tile saws. The G2 saws feature several new components designed to make tile cutting easier for any operator, with cutting capacity the most noticeable enhancement.

The Tilematic G2 will cut 16 in. diagonally, up from 12 in., while the Super Tilematic G2 will cut 22 in. diagonally, up from 18 in. The Tilematic G2 will now rip cut a 24-in. tile and the Super Tilematic G2 will rip cut a 31-in. tile. Both have the largest cutting capacities in their respective classes.

The models also sport new galvanized pans that resist rust, improved bladeshaft locks to make blade removal easier and a 50 percent bigger conveyor cart to better support bigger tile that comes with a standard extension in the Super Tilematic G2 version. Both saws can also make spring-assisted plunge cuts and feature cam adjustment to aid in belt tensioning.

The 1-1/2 hp, enclosed and fan-cooled Baldor continuous-duty motor is available as a single voltage in the Tilematic G2 or as a single or dual voltage in the Super Tilematic G2.

Komatsu's Tier 3 Wheel-Loader

Komatsu America Corp. has introduced the new WA600-6 wheel loader, its first wheel loader equipped with a Tier 3 compliant engine. The 118,385-lb WA600-6 - created primarily for quarry, sand and gravel, industrial and smaller mining applications - is designed to offer improved productivity, lower fuel consumption and increased reliability over the WA600-3.

The WA600-6 is powered by a Komatsu Tier 3, SAA6D170E-5 six-cylinder engine, producing 502 hp at 1,800 rpm, a significant increase in horsepower over the previous model. Besides meeting all Tier 3 requirements, Komatsu's Tier 3 engine is equipped with new technologies, including an electronic control system to optimize vehicle performance, heavy-duty High Pressure Common Rail Fuel Injection system, new combustion system for reduced noise and fuel consumption, cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation system and an air-to-air charge air-cooling system.

The WA600-6's engine comes standard with dual-mode engine power - an economy mode for fuel efficiency and a power mode for maximum productivity.
